Kolkata, October 29, 2025 – The Government of West Bengal, Finance Department, has issued a resolution confirming the General Provident Fund (GPF) and similar funds interest rate for the third quarter of the financial year 2025-2026.
According to the Resolution No. 112-F(J), dated October 29, 2025, the Governor has decided to maintain the interest rate at 7.1% (Seven point one percent) per annum.
Period of Applicability
This rate of interest will be effective for the three-month period starting from October 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025. This ensures continuity and stability for state government employees’ savings during this quarter of the 2025-2026 financial year.
Applicable Provident Funds
The uniform interest rate of 7.1% applies to the accumulations at the credit of subscribers across several provident and similar funds under the administrative control of the Government of West Bengal. The affected funds include:
- General Provident Fund (West Bengal Service)
- Contributory Provident Fund (West Bengal)
- Provident Funds maintained under the West Bengal Non-Government Educational Institutions and Local Authorities (CPFE) Act, 1983
- Any other Provident Fund maintained under State Account with the approval of the State Government
The resolution, issued by the Finance Department (Group-J), further orders that the decision be circulated to all Departments of the Government of West Bengal for necessary implementation.
